The PURA concept served as a predecessor to a new mission launched by Government of India in February 2016 as Shyama Prasad Mukherjee National Rurban Mission (SPMNRM) of which he is a Member in the Expert Panel. The National Rurban Mission aims to spur social, economic and infrastructure development in rural areas by developing a cluster of 300 Smart Villages across the country. He started the Advantage Bharat Fellowship – a rural immersion fellowship program for the top graduates and young corporates of the nation belonging to Harvard, IIMs and IITs. Several of these ideas are blossoming as enterprises.

Srijan has co-authored three books with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam titled Target 3 Billion, Advantage India and Reignited. Target 3 Billion is a best-selling book on exploring how to uplift the 3 billion people living in abject poverty in the world through enterprise creation and investments. His book, Reignited (Penguin 2015) was a pioneering effort in making modern science a convenient read for people – especially children. Selling over 200,000 copies across 8 languages it was a national bestseller and nominated for the top five books of the category in the year. Following the success of this book, he penned down Reignited 2 (Penguin 2019). This second volume extends the journey and covers some exciting and cutting-edge fields in sciences which will shape out tomorrow.

The Kalam Library Project pioneered the idea of “Human Library” in the country and today it is spread as a free library to over 80 different remote locations in India – making it one of the largest non-government free networks in operation. These libraries also act as a career counseling center for the local youth in remote areas.

He founded India’s first Incubation Center for water-related innovations under the name of Kalam InnoBlu Center which is now coming up to solve the water-related challenges of India and other nations. This center was launched by Rajiv Kumar, the Hon’ble Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog in July 2018.

He has also collaborated with the United Kingdom Center for Astrobiology (UKCA) in University of Edinburgh and founded the UKCA-KC Mars Mission for India where Indian youth are being educated free-of-cost about life and living on Mars and young designers from India get an opportunity to work directly with global experts in locations all around the globe to experiment on technology which would be essential for Mars Living.
